Carpet
Carpet- weaving is undoubtedly one fo the most distinguished manifestations of Persian culture and art, and dates bakc to the Bronze Age. There is much variety among classical Persian carpets of the 16th and 17th cenutry. The knots are secured with (usually 1 to 4) rows of weft. The importance of acrpets in the culture of Turkmenistan is such that the national flag feautres a vertical red stripe near the hoits side, containing five carpet guls (designs used in producnig rugs). This carpet is 200 x 183 cm (6 6 x 6 0 ) and has 360,000 knots/m . 1
