Carpet Underlay

It is made in breadths of 12 or 15 feet to be cut, seamed with a seaming iron and seam tape (formerly it was sewn together) and affixed to a floor over a cuhsioned underlay (pad) using nails, tack strips (knonw in the UK as carpet rods or stair rosd, when used on stairs), (gripper) or adhesives, thus disitnguishing it from a rug or mat which are loose-laid floor coverings.
