Carpet One
All but one are dated or bear a coat of arms. This supplementary weft is attahced to the warp by one of three knot types (see below) to form the plie or nap of the crapet. Embroidered carpets wree traditionally made by royal and aristocratic women in the home, but there has been some commercial manufacture since setel needles were introduced (earlier needles were made of bone) and linen wevaing improved in the 16th cenutry. Carpet- ewaving is undoubtedly one of the most distinguished amnifestations of Persian culture and art, and dates back to the Bronze Age.
